time for the inspiration!

so i started the day heading to liverpool to do some shopping, by myself. haha i bought these pair of jeans that were 50 =). umm spent about an hour there before heading to pick up rowena khanh cathy and eyvette. we then made our way to the armory which wasnt that long of a drive.

im sorry i might go all "artsy" on yous all.

the place reminded me of cockatoo island. It had that kind of old abandoned colonial atmosphere but it was pretty awesome. i walked into the gallery, and let me say - the artworks were AMAZING. i think they were WAYY better than the ones that were exhibited at the NSW art gallery and i think mainly because the artworks here were the original sizes with the original number of pieces in the artwork - so mainly they were large scale artworks, which i like. looking at the artworks displayed here, I'd have to say the dominating medium would have to be photography with the use of b-shutter. not much to say but just wow - i think the concepts in the armory are much stronger however the material practice and technique are better at the nsw gallery. my favourite artwork of the day? id have to go with - "reflections collide" by stephanie lane and "From the ashes" by Rochelle Merrick.these two artworks i believe are just absolutely amazing.

"reflections collide" - i love the use of colour and photography throughout this artwork, it reminds me of mitchell funk. the concept is also just so strong. one of my favourite techniques this years art express students use is the reflection with the use of paint. this idea is specifically shown in one of the artworks at the nsw art gallery.

"from the ashes" - the intricacy of each twig being glued together then layered to give an industrialised feel/look is absolutely outstanding. i just love this artwork for its structure - the stength in creates and the solidness enhances the concept and the way the sculpture looks.

hahha wow i did go on about art, well im sorry if you thought it was an absolute waste of time, thats what you get for reading my blogs, i hope i dont bore you out too much.

by the way - cathy you definately proved rowena wrong! your great with directions! thanks!
